Paul Campbell
I decided to hire Peter about 18 months out from my 2020 contest season. One of the biggest opportunities I missed out on as a professional bodybuilder was maximizing my calorie intake during the offseason. This is such a critical aspect of prep, because it sets the foundation for your entire prep as well as making improvements to your physique. When I hired Peter we had a 90 minute phone conversation discussing some things I have done in the past. I knew I would have to add body fat, but I was okay with that because I trusted Peter 100%.
Our pre-prep consisted of pushing calories to ensure that I would be adding muscle and aiding with recovery. This was almost a six month process. I believe my calories were right around 5000/daily. I achieved a new bodyweight and I was my strongest.
We decided to start my cut in January of 2020 as I was competing in October that year. Because I worked with Peter in the offseason pushing my food, I was able to begin my cut at the highest calorie intake in my 15 year history of being a competitive (now pro) bodybuilder. Each week we made changes as necessary and we added a nice diet break for a couple of weeks. The diet break was a nice touch because I was able to consume more food and I lost weight.
Throughout my career I have typically prepared for 16-22 weeks before a show. Much of the methods involved excessive cutting of calories and adding cardio. Both can be counterproductive if the goal is to maintain as much muscle as possible.
I can say with confidence my 2020 prep was the most enjoyable prep in my career. I also brought the best package in my career (see photos). I managed a 10k-11k daily step count and my calories dropped to 2200/daily at the end of prep. I didn’t crave foods and my strength was consistent and I could function at my day job.
Whether you are a novice or experienced bodybuilder, I cannot recommend Peter enough. As long as he is coaching, he will get my business.
Thank you Peter for all you have done.
